Please find Number 74 of International Higher Education.

The first article in this issue features a report concerning research and training in higher education. The “Shanghai Statement” stems from an important conference sponsored by the Center for International Higher Education and the Graduate School of Education at Shanghai Jiaotong University that brought together 17 directors of higher education centers from around the world and several policymakers. The event was supported by the SIDA, the Swedish aid agency. The statement notes the increasing importance, maturity, and relevance of higher education centers and programs in providing both research and training. We hope that the statement may stimulate action to raise the profile of the higher education research and training community worldwide.
